Workers’ Comp Drug Costs on the Rise
A recent report indicates that pharmacy costs for workers’ compensation have continued to rise injuries have been decreasing over the last few years. According to the report, pharmacy costs increased by 5.4% in 2008.
This increase in pharmacy costs has been attributed in large part to the decreased availability of generic OxyContin. The report stated that the five most prescribed drug classes made up a total of 70% of pharmacy costs and 74% of total transactions in 2008.
