In a workers’ compensation case, a full commutation is a type of settlement. Under a full compensation, the victim is given a lump sum payment of all future benefits.
The risk of a full commutation is that it ends an employee’s rights to future benefits. This type of settlement, however, must be approved by the workers’ compensation commissioner.

When employees are injured on the job, they often need medical treatment that may be expensive. If they are covered under workers’ compensation, then their employer’s insurance company will cover some or all of the expenses.
Because the payments are made by the insurance company, individuals typically do not pay the medical provider directly. Instead, they submit the medical bills to their employer’s insurance company, which will pay the bills.
If you are covered under workers’ compensation and your employer’s insurance is not paying your medical bills, contact the Des Moines workers’ compensation attorneys of LaMarca & Landry, P.C., at 877-327-2600.

When individuals receive treatments in workers’ compensation cases, they often are treated by a doctor chosen by the employer. In some cases, individuals are not satisfied with their treatment and ask their employer if they may see another doctor.
While some employers may honor the request, others may refuse to allow an individual to receive treatment from another doctor. When this occurs, individuals have the option of seeking another doctor through an Informal Dispute Resolution.
During this process, a representative of the court will help the two sides agree. If this reconciliation process does not lead to an agreement, individuals may file a petition with the court.
If you or anyone you know cannot get treatment from a doctor of your choosing for a workers’ compensation case, contact the Des Moines workers’ compensation lawyers of LaMarca & Landry, P.C., at 877-327-2600.

When individuals seek workers’ compensation benefits, they are not required to hire an attorney. This means that individuals do not need an attorney to file petitions or appear before court.
However, some individuals benefit from having an attorney. Because attorneys are equipped to represent their clients best interests in legal circumstances, they can be especially helpful in complicated workers’ compensation cases.

When treating employees’ workplace injuries, the employer typically provides the medical care. As part of this process, the employer usually has the right to choose the medical care provider.
If an employee is not satisfied with his health care treatment, that employee can discuss the issue with his employer or the insurance carrier. If the employee is still not satisfied, he may apply for alternate medical care to the workers’ compensation commission.
