What is a full commutation?

Posted on April 30th, 2010 No Comments

In a workers’ compensation case, a full commutation is a type of settlement. Under a full compensation, the victim is given a lump sum payment of all future benefits.

The risk of a full commutation is that it ends an employee’s rights to future benefits. This type of settlement, however, must be approved by the workers’ compensation commissioner.

If you or anyone you know has questions about workers’ compensation benefits, contact the Des Moines workers’ compensation attorneys of LaMarca & Landry, P.C., at 877-327-2600.
