PA brass foundry fined $500,000 by OSHA

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) last week announced intentions to impose penalties of more than $550,000 against Excelsior Brass Works in Blandon, PA, which is owned by Kief Industries Inc.

The fines are in response to investigations that determined that the brass foundry knowingly exposed workers to lead, violating federal workplace health and safety standards.

The Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA stated, “The employer deliberately refused to protect workers from overexposure to lead and other workplace hazards.”

Kief Industries has been given 15 business days to respond to the penalties.
