Retired NFL players sue the league
In a new lawsuit filed last week in Miami, 21 more retired NFL players have come forward accusing the league of concealing information about the dangerous effects of repeated head injuries.
The former athletes claim that the NFL promoted an aggressive playing style and put players on the field as soon as possible following an injury. Many athletes now suffer from sleeplessness, headaches, and dementia, which they say was caused by multiple concussions suffered while playing professionally.
The players argue that the NFL purposefully hid information from them about the connection of concussions to long-term neurological issues. They cite a report a committee hired by the league made that states they did not find any negative long term effects associated with concussions.
