A woman’s hand had to be partially amputated after it became tangled in an industrial mixer Wednesday morning.

The employee was hurt at the Polyform Products manufacturing plant where industrial and artistic clays are made. According to officials, her hand became stuck in a mixing machine that mixes clay for consistency and color.

She was conscious at the time of the accident and managed to untangle her fingers before paramedics arrived. The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries where her hand was later partially amputated. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified about the accident.

A man in Harris County, Texas recently filed a lawsuit against a construction company after he lost his fingers while making a delivery to the company’s construction site.

The man was delivering equipment to the company in November of last year using a dump truck. The lawsuit claims that an employee of the company caused the tailgate of the dump truck to slam shut on the man’s hand. The man’s fingers were immediately amputated because of the impact of the metal tailgate.

The man is suing the construction company for loss of income and medical expenses.
