Starting next Tuesday in Iowa City, the sixth annual Mission Creek Festival will begin. The Mission Creek Festival was started in 2006 by Iowa City college students as an extension of the wildly successful Mission Creek Music and Arts Festival in San Francisco and Oakland, California.
The Mission Creek Festival features live music, art, food, and literature. The event runs from March 27 to April 1 at several venues throughout Iowa City. Year after year, the festival has increased attendance from 3,000 in 2006 to nearly 15,000 in 2011. Musicians such as Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth and Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, and comedian/actor David Cross have come to Iowa City for the festival.
All day passes are sold out, but individual tickets for each event are still available. To learn more about the festival, who’s coming this year, and how to purchase tickets, visit missionfreak.com.
