Iowa Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Injured Worker
Lee Burress worked in an IBP Inc slaughterhouse from 1987 to 1997. In 2003, he was diagnosed with brucellosis caused by contact with pigs’ blood. When he sought workers’ compensation for it, IBP challenged.
A workers’ comp commissioner gave full benefits to Burress, but they were later retracted by a district judge. However, the Iowa Court of Appeals and the Iowa Supreme Court have both ruled in Burress’ favor, granting him benefits.
