Employees file workers' compensation claims for various reasons. In some cases, employees will attempt to file workers' compensation claims when they are not actually injured or have incurred injuries in non-work related incidents.

When employees attempt to file these false claims and are caught, then they may face both business and legal consequences. For instance, in some cases, the employer may have grounds to fire the employee if the employee knowingly filed a workers' compensation claim for a non-work related accident.
