Bricklayer killed in tragic construction accident
Last Friday, a man working as a bricklayer was killed in a tragic construction accident in Overland Park, Kansas. The accident occurred at around 1:50 in the afternoon on West 175th Street at the building site for Blue Valley School.
According to Overland Park police, 52-year old James D. Tyree and two other men were working at the middle school when the scaffolding he was working on in a three story staircase collapsed from underneath him. The workers fell between 30 and 35 feet.
Tyree was killed in the accident and the other two workers suffered a broken leg and other minor injuries. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the cause of the construction accident.
