Woman awarded $18.5M for work accident
A 24-year-old woman was awarded $18.5 million by a Cook County judge after she suffered permanent and traumatic injuries while working on the film Transformers 3. The woman was working as an extra when a stunt scene went terribly wrong.
She was injured when a cable pushing a car in front of her broke off and smashed through the windshield of her vehicle. At the time of the accident, the extra was traveling at about 50 mph. The cable hit her head, causing her to lose about a third of the top of her head.
According to CBS Chicago, a large portion of the right side of her brain was removed in the accident. The family blames shoddy workmanship for her injuries.
