Asbestos fraud non-existent, White House claims

In a statement released on Tuesday, November 12, the White House opposed the Furthering Asbestos Claim Transparency (FACT) Act, which is designed to increase the transparency of asbestos bankruptcy trusts, claiming that the measure was established on a false assumption of prevalent fraudulent deals in the trusts’ system.

The statement added that the FACT Act would expose vital information of individuals who had taken legal action for asbestos-related injuries or illnesses to the public, making them at risk of privacy violations.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and various insurance groups believe that the FACT Act would end duplicated asbestos-related claims and ensure assets for the benefit of future asbestos claimants by requiring asbestos trusts to make additional information about the victims’ claim publicly available.
